When we think of customer service, it is often in reference to how we treat the people who walk into our Bank for help with their financial needs. However, treating colleagues with the same level of service expected for customers goes a long way to enhance the culture inside the Bank. This is the very reason our September Star was nominated by one of her ‘customers’. We are proud to recognize Laura Valerio, Bookkeeping Clerk, as our Star of the Month for September.
Customer service is many things: knowledge, communication, attitude, efficiency, integrity, reliability and helpfulness. It is being responsive to needs and being resourceful in meeting those needs. Laura possesses each of these qualities. From her nomination of Laura, Brenda Silva, Retail Office Manager in Grand Saline, shares, “Laura’s customer service skills toward her fellow employees are exemplary. Anytime you need help she is there for you, no matter how busy she may be or how difficult the situation – if she does not have an answer, she will find one for you. Though I do not get to see her face-to-face, she is one of the friendliest people I know and she always answers our calls with a smile on her face.” Laura is a perfect example of treating coworkers with respect, helping them solve problems and exceeding the expectations of her role. She is also described as “a positive individual who goes the extra mile every single time, always picking up extra responsibilities in her department” with an infectious smile that lights up a room.
Laura joined the Austin Bank team in 2017 as a Telephone Customer Service Representative in our Customer Care Center. She moved to the Bookkeeping department in 2018. Cross-trained in several areas of bookkeeping, Laura currently processes debit card disputes.
Originally from San Diego, TX, Laura and her son, E. J., now live in Longview with their dog, Sophie. She enjoys traveling, spending time with family and hanging out on the beach. Laura serves as a Mentor in the Bank’s Mentorship program.
“Laura is a delight to have on the Bookkeeping team. She is always willing to take on any task and does so with a ‘can do’ attitude. She is dedicated to her job and handles her workload with confidence and accuracy.”
Rhonda Pierce, Bookkeeping Supervisor, Longview Greggton
“Laura is such a great worker in our department. She has taken on disputes like a pro! You never hear her complain and she is always has a cheerful and positive attitude. I am very happy to have her on the Bookkeeping team.”
Trudy Harris, VP/Deposit Operations Manager, Longview Greggton
