This month’s Star joined Austin Bank in 2022, and has a thirst for knowledge. Fortunately for the bank, that thirst drives his desire to improve every day processes and seek out best practices of the software programs under his management. We are privileged to have Brian Postell, Computer Operator, on our team, and honored to recognize him as the May 2024 Star of the Month.
Brian came to the bank following eight years of service in the United States Army, and then positions with the Department of Veterans Affairs and PDI Software. His service time included basic training, Individual Advanced Training to become a medic, and two deployments to Iraq. Despite wishing to make a career in the Army, Brian was medically discharged and earned the Bronze Star for his combat service. Possessing a passion for acquiring new knowledge, Brian pursued higher education after his discharge and earned an Associate of Arts degree from McLennan Community College, a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from Texas A&M University Central Texas, and a Master of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Tyler. However, he is not done. His quest for information continues as he is currently seeking enrollment in a doctoral program and working to learn the Japanese language.
Business is ever changing, and banking is not immune. Brian continually looks for something to improve or a process to refine. Specifically in regards to Business Analytics, a software which he oversees, he has taken the time to educate himself on it fully to the point where he can share that knowledge with other bank employees and provide solutions to automate many processes and reports. “Brian communicates program changes and upgrades, in addition to sharing solutions for program issues with all users,” shares Sandy Rayburn, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. “I definitely appreciate the help he provides to make our work lives easier.” His willingness to help, friendliness, and patience with those a little less tech-savvy is greatly appreciated.
Brian married his high school sweetheart, Lauren, and they have a ten year old son, Landon. The family lives in Gilmer with their dog, Daisy, and a few chickens and ducks. Brian enjoys spending time with his family, visiting with friends, likes to read and write when time allows, and loves to smoke brisket or other meats. The family attends Enon Baptist Church.
“Brian’s ability to think critically about a problem and offer up unique and impactful solutions makes him a valuable asset to the bank. He is always eager to help out anyone that needs assistance, no matter the task at hand. Austin Bank is lucky to have Brian as part of the team.”
John Ory, Senior Executive Vice President/Chief Operations Officer, Grand Saline
“Brian has the personal desire to work, learn, and grow despite the pain he lives with. He is a very good worker and a strong asset to Austin Bank. He is patient and considerate while helping others learn something new.”
Dennis Means, Vice President/Data Processing Manager, Longview Greggton
“Brian is always quick to volunteer for new things and take on new challenges. He is a valuable asset to our team and we are glad he is with us.”
John Orr, Senior Vice President/Chief Information Officer, Longview Greggton
