This month’s Star holds a role few are aware exists in the world of banking – compliance officer. Though not public facing, this employee’s responsibilities are critical for the success of the bank as a whole. She ensures the company adheres to all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies, thereby reducing risks, maintaining a positive reputation, avoiding lawsuits, and promoting a culture of ethical behavior through employee education and compliance practices. For the success she has found in her role, we are proud to introduce Diana Murray, Senior Vice President and Compliance Officer, as our February Star of the Month.
Diana joined the bank in 2018 bringing with her 12 years of previous banking experience, most of which was in compliance regulation. Hired as a compliance and project analyst, she was promoted to vice president in 2018, then senior vice president in March 2024. Since stepping into the role of compliance officer in May 2024, Diana has taken on several large initiatives and managed them with great thought and care. She has created teams that address the projects holistically, fostering true partnerships and attention to doing the right thing. Results have been amazing, and she continues to take on new projects without complaint, always looking for ways to improve processes and systems. Diana’s knowledge in business analytics and Excel make her the ideal resource for help with research projects. She is a great team player, and willing to offer advice or help when needed. Her ability to manage multiple projects at once and stay calm as she brings each to completion has impressed many in the bank.
Diana is a graduate of Midland High School and attended Angelo State University as well as Midland College. She has earned the Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) and Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) professional credentials, and will graduate from Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at SMU in May. She and her husband, Bryan, are residents of Hallsville where they live with their son, Cayden, and pets – Buzz and Woody. Diana is very ‘crafty’ and owns Diana’s Mums, making beautiful homecoming mums for several school districts across East Texas. Additionally, she volunteers time serving at Newgate Mission in Longview.
“Over the past several years I have worked closely with Diana. She is extremely knowledgeable in consumer regulations and bank operations. She has excellent research skills and networks effectively with her peers in the industry.”
